FOREST FUTURES PROGRAMME MENTOR
Contract Type: Zero Hour Contract
Reports To: Mentoring Manager
Overview: As a Forest Futures Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting young individuals aged 14-25, guiding them towards personal growth, educational attainment, and career development. This position offers flexibility through a zero hour contract, allowing you to work as needed to meet the programme's requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group mentoring sessions to young individuals.
- Assist mentees in setting personal, educational, and career goals.
- Offer advice and support to help mentees overcome challenges and barriers.
- Collaborate with the Mentoring Manager to develop and implement mentorship programmes.
- Create engaging and educational activities that promote personal development and skill-building.
- Track the progress of mentees and document their development.
- Provide regular reports to the Mentoring Manager on mentee progress and programme effectiveness.
- Adjust mentorship strategies based on feedback and evaluations
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with mentees, their families, and relevant stakeholders.
- Network with local organisations, schools, and community groups to enhance programme reach and impact.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Stay updated on best practices in mentoring and youth development.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: A background in education, psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in mentoring, coaching, or working with young people is highly desirable.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with young people.
- Organisational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address challenges and find effective solutions.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid driver’s license and access to transportation may be required.
- Successful completion of background checks.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
- Have or working towards a L2 Mentoring Qualification.
Working Conditions:
- Flexible working hours as determined by the needs of the mentees and the programme.
- Available for day time and potentially evening work
- Combination of remote and in-person mentoring sessions.
